My laptop has gone bung and I am using Roger’s old desktop that is as slow as a wet week and quite frustrating to use so I am not going to be around WordPress much at all, I thought I had better let everyone know why!
A most painful thing is I have lost all my soap labels, papers etc! I am not sure yet when I will be getting another….maybe another few weeks or so, not sure at this stage.

Oh – bollocks Wendy!! Gosh darn it and Cheeses! I was wondering where you were. Keeping fingers crossed for a speedy remedy. xoxo

I will echo Pauline’s choice of “bollocks”. My cell phone is in the process of dying; not quite as annoying as a dead or dying laptop but a darn nuisance all the same.

Do you know, this week we have had to replace Roger’s cellphone, have $900 work done on his truck and now this! Expensive week!

Oh help. I went searching around the house to see if a laptop here could be resurrected for you but I’m afraid not. Do you know what happened to it? Do you know if it is fixable. I am still hoping there is a solution for my cell phone issues but it’s faint hope.

Have a search for those clever people who can recover information from your dead laptop. They are worth their weight in gold. If it is recoverable they will be able to get it for you. So frustrating!! Invest in a good hard drive too x

My son managed to retrieve it, he just let me know tonight. I am sooooo pleased for that! And yes, an external hard drive on the list as well…never again!!!! Thanks 🙂

Oh fantastic! That is great news. I lost a heap of photos on our very first computer and that was a hard lesson. We have a external hard drive just for our photos and another for documents etc. That son of yours is a gem 🙂

So very sorry to hear about the death of your computer. We never realize how important something is until it’s gone. I bought a new one when the old one started to sizzle in my lap. I rely so heavily on it that their was no way I could do without. Easier to do without a washing machine or a stove. Good luck and hope to see you back soon with everything intact.

They are a link to the rest of the world and I find that really important nowadays, like you I do such a lot on it…rely on it. Yeah, could do without a stove, good excuse not to cook 🙂

What are the odds?! I just went through the same thing, took me ages for the repair to be done, thankfully it was still under guaranty but now that I’m back I appreciate having had that time semi-off (had a dead slow laptop in between too) & being totally here with a fully functioning, fast laptop 🙂
Take it in your stride, maybe that’s what you just need for the moment… a break from all that time consuming technology.
Nevertheless, all my very best wishes for its speedy recovery 😉

It’s funny because I have just had 3 weeks off work and haven’t used my computer much at all and enjoyed it! It is a pain though, nice machines to have when you want them 🙂 It’s dead but my stuff retrieved which is the main thing 🙂

Very relieved to hear you managed to save all your work!
Good luck & enjoy the quiet until you get it back 🙂

Ditto with all of the bollocks Ms Wendy and oawritingspoemspaintings is right. This time might be just what the Dr. ordered to collect your thoughts, yourself and get pointed in your own personal “right direction”. Kym is right, you can easily get your info back from most cactus PC’s these days :). See you when we see you and till then, think of all of that extra soap making you can do! 🙂

I have had 3 weeks off work and it’s been great, quiet, no demands and some soapmaking 🙂 Just heard tonight my son has managed to get all my files off, yay!!!!

That is excellent Wendy :). At least now you can start again with all your files and 3 weeks off sounds like heaven 🙂

Ah, feeling your pain! Good luck with finding someone to retrieve your info. Our laptops become so personal, not like the other machines we own. Although a machine that has run well for years is like an old friend too.

You are so right Anne, I had such a lot of stuff stored on there! Good news tonight, my son has retrieved all my soaping stuff, rapt! Sort of hoping he anaged all the res of my junk too but don’t know he would’ve had the patience for ALL my collections 🙂

Dang these things, sorry to hear about all the losses. When my old Mac packed it in, the techie wonder kids (they make me feel so old) at Apple managed to recall most of my files and transfer them to my new laptop. You never know, you may get lucky. I hope so. See ya when we see ya!

Urgh. Mine died last year and I just sent my phone swimming the other week so I’ve a newish laptop and phone to wrangle. I HATE changing technology and will live with proken and battered old techs for ages before changing. I’m so glad you’re files are all safe. That’s the worst bit about changing tech but in general it’s ultra frustrating. Here’s to a new laptop landing in your lap in the next few days. Hoping the universe is listening. 😉

Jess, I hate new technology too! I spend the first few weeks of every new computer of phone saying “I hate this thing!!!” I bought a computer this morning, advertised yesterday at $100 off and 12 months interest free, pretty cheap… and I loathe it, I really do. Nothing works the right way and I am totally lost! I couldn’t stand working a new phone as well lol, don’t envy you there!

awww…I have been checking over the weeks to see where you were 🙂 MIssed reading your posts. Decided to check again this morning:-) Sorry to hear about your computer-I can relate. You be safe and enjoy your time off. You do work hard, so rest would be well deserving for you:-) .
We had 14 1/4 inches of snow this weekend + dug ourselves out. I got my post out on sunday early anticipating power to go out etc. Internet was sluggish for the weekend, but it is a better now. People in our area were with out power for a few days. I am glad we were not without power. And 14 1/2 is not too bad considering out east-last week they had 32 inches! YIKES.
Love your soap + lip balm + creams..the best!

I got a new one Robbie a few days ago and I hate it, don’t ever buy a Windows 8 Computer! My son tells me it has not been popular and the next Windows will be back to the original Windows style…this has me tearing my hair out! Ew yuck, snow! and deep now! I do not know how people cope with it. We have been having 36 deg C heat so a bit too hot, not gardening weather in the afternoons at present! Glad your like the “stuff” 🙂

Wendy, I can relate to new technology-remember I upgraded to my mini computer-a.k.a smart phone! Geez-I felt stupid using it-It has a camera that I don’t even use…The younger people that grew up as children with this stuff just pick it up so quickly-my son is like, “Mom, why don’t us have this or that on your phone or do this or that on your phone or your computer…yadda, yadda, yadda…it drives me crazy-I can’t keep up with it-I CAN imagine how you are pulling your hair out! I am glad I have a blog for doing word press forces me to stay up on technology.
When people quit work or no longer use a computer they will fall behind..so I pull my hair out as you and keep pushing through…I know the day will come when I say-NO MORE:-)
Snow-yep-it is a pain but at least we did not get 32 inches like they did out east-my 14/1/2 did not seem too bad-LOL

Lol, yes, my son is always coming over to sort out our computer woes…he’s a whizz with them which is just as well but has everything under the sun in that area. I am terrible with new phones too 🙂 I would quite like to go back to pre-internet days myself but now have so many things I am committed to on the net because I started them, one day I might chuck it all in. I have enjoyed a lot less time on it and now dislike this one intensely so we will not be having a well maintained relationship!
Eek, 32 inches of snow, I can’t even imagine that!!
