  1. I LOVE this poster. Resilience in bucketloads and a complete refusal to just stand around waiting for “someone” to fix it all. Get stuck in, get growing and get a bit of hope and control back from “the man”. Cheers for sharing, I am pinning this post πŸ™‚

  2. I grew up hearing about the Victory Gardens and wished our country would have suggested a return to gardening instead of more retail therapy since we can’t seem to stay out of wars and undeclared conflicts. How far my country has fallen from the ideals it was built on.

      • I recently heard a report which stated that people in the US only have a maximum of 3 days worth of food. How crazy is that? Even without the fridge I have much more food than that in my house.

      • That IS crazy. Call me a pessimist but I don’t have enough faith in anyone, any corporation or government nowadays to not take responsibility for my own food – from chemicals to uncertain financial times to god knows what!

      • Exactly!! I may not have a fridge, but I’ve always had a good pantry supply of food that would hold me over if I couldn’t get to a store for a while. This year I bought a freezer, I bought it late as I was holding out for a used model, so I missed a lot of the seasonal fruits, but I would say I have enough food to last me at least 3 months even feeding guests. Plus I am growing greens in my front window to have fresh salads all winter. And if things get bad I always have a stash of peanut butter πŸ˜‰

I am going to try making some this week…every time I buy the peanuts we eat them all before I get around to making it…..I LOVE peanut butter.

      • Well we have that in common whether peanuts or peanut butter I love them! When I buy peanuts I get them in the shells just so I have to eat them slower. πŸ™‚ I’ve been known to skip a meal when working and instead grab a spoonful of peanut butter as my replacement, don’t tell anyone. πŸ™‚

      • I won’t tell a soul but a spoonful of peanut butter isn’t much of a meal!! lol. I love peanuts too, my favourite snack is raw peanuts and sultanas (golden raisins) We have just planted peanuts but they are so cheap to buy I think I might have to agree with my husband it was a waste of garden space….I just had to try them πŸ™‚

  3. Not sure how I missed this, but I’m pinning it, too. I love the WWII posters; the Land Girl ones, too. My sons’ wonderful granny was a Land Girl.
    Thanks, Wendy.
